Every year since I started riding, there is controversy about the points. Either someone transferred club at last minute or someone invited too many new people etc etc. This suggests to me that there are problems with the points system itself.
I agree that it is dishonest to assign a new rider to a person who has not met him, and won't support him on the ride. I also agree that it is dishonest to disproportionately assign fair play points to a rider to compensate for this. I have no idea to what extent either of these accusations are true.
But most importantly I think this whole conversation has lost the point, which is the reason that we ride is for pleasure, for companionship and for a personal sense of achievement. I hope that both stanislav and niki feel such a sense of pleasure and achievement after both have had an incredible year of riding. If the matter of who wins the trophy is a disagreement over such a tiny number of points achieved in a questionable manner, when the vast majority of both their points were achieved by riding consistently throughout the year, why don't we just agree that this year there are two winners of the trophy?
I would much rather see everyone celebrate both of these men's achievements, than to see continued petty arguments on this forum.
Let me be the first to congratulate both Stanislav and Niki: you are both winners in my eyes.
